James A. Devereux, S.J., a native Philadelphian has been pastor since 199? Immediately prior to that he was the Provincial of the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus. He qualifies as a Tar Heel since he has a Doctorate in Literature from Chapel Hill and he taught English there for 17 years. Before ordination he studied
Theology at Louvain in Belguim. He is active in the Uptown Business Guild and is on the Boards of theUrban Ministry and Mecklenburg Ministries. Fr. Jim is an avid birder, and when not listening to bird songs he listens to
classical music.

Eugene P. McCreesh, S.J. is the Parochial Vicar. He first came to Charlotte in 198? as a part-time assistant at St. Ann's Church and ministered to the patients at the area hospitals. His ministry at St. Peter's has been anything but part-time. In Charlotte he has become the champion of the homeless and has been instrumental in the founding of the George Shinn Center. Some of his previous assignments have been as Director of Novices at the Jesuit's seminary in Wernersville, Maryland, as a missionary and teacher in Burma, and as a pastor at Jesu Church, an inner city church in Philadelphia.
Robert J. Paquet, S.J., was born in Canada but grew up in (Baltimore?) and has served as Assistant here since 199?. Although he is supposed to be in semi-retirement he is almost as active as ever. He can be seen at all the area hospitals and is the weekly celebrant of the Sunday evening Mass. His other ministries include RCIA and the Homebound Ministry. Before entering parish work he was a teacher of ____________ in the (Baltimore???) area.
Mary Ann Sullivan came to St. Peter's during the early days of its
reincarnation as a full parish in 1985. She is the Parish Administrator who
keeps everything humming. Before coming to St. Peters she _____________
Cathie Tilly serves as Parish Liaison/Faith Formation coordinator. As an
active parishioner she and her husband Dave have been the backbone of the
RCIA program since its inception. In addition to that Cathie heads up the
Parent-Educators program.
